Let’s talk DACs—because if you’re reading this, you already know how critical it is to get that pristine sound in your setup. Enter the K11 R2R DAC. Not to be confused with its original, sigma-delta predecessor, this R2R version is a whole different beast. And for $160 MSRP, it delivers performance that rivals DACs priced eight times as much. After extensive testing in various setups, it’s safe to say that this DAC is a serious bargain for audiophiles on a budget.

If you’re into home recording, or video editing, the K11 R2R is a fantastic addition to your setup. It offers high-quality audio at a price point that’s hard to beat. However, if you’re used to working with speakers or headphones that demand serious low-end bass, this DAC might leave you wanting more in that department. It’s also not Bluetooth-enabled, so if wireless connectivity is important to you, this won’t be your go-to.
For just $160, you get a fully differential true 24-bit R2R DAC with a total of 192 precision thin-film resistors. The sound it delivers is organic and rich, rivaling the performance of DACs costing significantly more. While the bass extension is slightly better on higher-end models, the upper bass punch on the K11 R2R is exceptional, providing a solid, engaging sound.
The K11 R2R features both Non-Oversampling (NOS) and Oversampling (OS) modes, giving you the flexibility to choose between the most authentic sound or a more refined and smooth audio experience. Both modes have their strengths, but NOS preserves the original audio quality, making it feel natural and captivating.
Whether you’re driving planar headphones, IEMs, or feeding studio monitors, this DAC integrates seamlessly into any setup. It works great for bedside headphone setups or as part of your main chain feeding speakers. However, its solid-state amp is nothing particularly magical, especially compared to tube amps, but it’s competent.
•Top-tier sound for a fraction of the cost compared to other R2R DACs.
•Flexible audio modes: NOS and OS provide two distinct sound profiles.
•Precise and smooth sound for music, podcasts, and movies.
•Solid construction with excellent power supply circuitry ensuring clean and consistent output.
•No Bluetooth: Strictly wired connections only.
•Takes up desk space: Its design is a bit bulky, so plan accordingly.
•Lacks deep bass: While the upper bass punch is strong, the low-end leaves a bit to be desired.
•Only one speaker: You’ll need to purchase two if you want a stereo setup.
For the price, the K11 R2R is an absolute steal. It delivers 85% of the performance of high-end DACs for a fraction of the cost, making it ideal for audiophiles on a budget, podcasters, and home studio enthusiasts. While it has some minor drawbacks—like its bulk and lack of deep bass—it’s hard to complain at this price point. If you need a high-quality R2R DAC without the premium price tag, the K11 R2R is definitely worth your attention.
